THE MOST EVIL ROMAN EMPEROR

On June 9th, Roman Emperor Nero game ended himself. He wasn’t depressed or anything, he was sentenced to death by the roman senate and so he fled to escape execuition from them. He had been moved out of power because he was generally pretty evil, but very importantly, he was antagonising basically everyone and many people believed that he was responsible for causing the great fire of Rome in order to destroy the roman senate and obtain absolute power.

Also side note but I love how we call these giant tragic events the ‘great fire of Rome’ or the ‘great plague’ ‘great fire of London’ it just sounds quite funny because it almost sounds like they were enjoyable events. Like ‘the very cool and fun deadly fire of London’

Okay back to emperor Nero though now.

But not to worry, on his way of fleeing Rome  he had also already managed to kill his wife, mother and brother… for some reason?? Really, what was the point to this? Your guess was as good as mine. I guess not all roman emperors are good people. Really eye opening.

When Nero was fleeing, eventually he come to realise he was done for and that he would eventually be found, and so to prevent himself from having a prolonged death at the hands of his enemies he instead chose to game end himself. Only he didn’t do it immediately, at first he was really whiny about it. Nero first tried to get his servant to game end himself, just because Nero was scared. But obviously your servant doesn’t want to join a game ending pact with you, he’s just trying to make a living. So eventually after moaning a lot more, Nero cut his throat with a knife and died at the age of 30, having a 14 year reign on the throne.

Lastly though, I really would be cheating you if I didn’t tell you more things about Nero that he did during his life because… wow they are just amazing.

He killed his 13 year old brother because he thought they might eventually want to claim the throne. But to be fair it was his step brother he killed so that’s totally fine.

He raced a 10 horse chariot in the Olympic Games and almost died when he fell off the chariot.

There was also a rumour that while he burned the roman city to the ground he started playing his fiddle. Which actually just sounds insane, but knowing everything we know about him this actually sounds quite plausible.

I was reading this article about Nero while researching this topic, and one of the parts of the article says ‘there is no proof Nero played the fiddle while Rome burned, only rumours in writing’ which I thought was quite funny because it almost seems like they were looking for photographic evidence or something, like a vertical Tiktok video of Nero doing this. Anyway, see ya and have a good day.
